Nicola Murray

Nicola Lesley Murray (nee Williams) was born on 27th May 1975 to her loving parents Jennifer and the late Leonard Williams. The youngest of three girls , Nicola was the dearly loved little sister of Susan and Caroline. She married her dear husband, George Murray, on 27th May 2000 on her 25th Birthday and with all the teasing and laughter they had together , it was often commented that it must be “like Christmas every day in their house!”

She made many close friends and colleagues through school, university and the Speech and Language departments she worked in , who she held in the highest regard.

Determined and conscientious, Nicola faced life with a clear idea of how she wanted to live. She fulfilled many of these ideals with a life full of love ,friends, family ,travel and a vocational career as a Speech and Language Therapist. She had  a particular interest in helping adults with learning disabilities , all of which she was extremely proud.

Throughout her life, Nicola was very active in giving her time and support to the ‘Faith and Light’ movement ,  ‘Youth for Lourdes’  and ELMO (Edinburgh Lourdes Music Orchestra) In her ‘spare time’  Nicola trained as a reflexologist , was running a business and writing a book with her close friend and colleague, Gill Kidd and had been an invited speaker at Edinburgh University on a couple of occasions. She enjoyed research and new learing and this was always part of her life.

Nicola wrote about her life a few weeks before she died and was clear in acknowledging that she had lived a full life and that she “had loved and had been well loved” by those around her.
